Karachi: Over 38kg hashish seized in sea raid
KARACHI: The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) and Pakistan Customs Intelligence recovered a large quantity of hashish in a joint raid conducted at sea on Monday.
A PMSA spokesman said that a suspicious fishing vessel was raided at sea, inside the Karachi Harbour limits near the Yacht Club.
Taking advantage of the shallow water, the ship’s crew managed to escape towards Manora but the vessel was seized by the PMSA and Customs team. A thorough search of the boat led to the recovery of 38.5 kilograms of hashish, which was stored in fuel containers and concealed inside a secret compartment.
The narcotics have an approximate worth of eight million rupees in the international market and, according to officials, were to be delivered to another ship at sea. The seized boat and narcotics were handed over to Customs authorities for further legal proceedings.
