Extortionists held in Karachi
KARACHI: The police Special Investigation Unit (SIU) claimed to have arrested five suspects allegedly involved in extortion cases. SP Mohammed Farooq Awan said a raid was conducted in Machar Colony and three men associated with the banned People’s Aman Committee were arrested after an encounter.
The suspects were identified as Rafiq, Anwer and Syed Hamza. Weapons were also found on them. They were wanted by the police in target killing and extortion cases. The suspects had allegedly murdered Zainul Abideen in Docks on October 10.
In a separate raid, the SIU arrested Umer Khalil and Waqar Maqbool after an encounter in Mauripur. Two pistols were seized from them. The suspects were involved in extorting money from doctors usually operating their clinics in slum settlements.
