Karachi: 43 more suspects arrested in targeted raids
KARACHI: Law enforcers claimed to arrest 43 more suspects including a political worker during separate targeted raids and operations across the city on Monday. Rangers Sindh conducted targeted raids in Hussain Hazara Chowk, Chakiwara–Lyari, Quetta Town, Mullah Essa Goth, Shanti Nagar, Micassa Centre, PIB Colony, Old Sabzi Mandi, Railway Housing Society, Natha Khan Goth, Ijtamah Road, North Nazimabad and Keamari areas on late Sunday.
39 wanted criminals including Lyari gang war elements and political workers were caught. 162 weapons of different calibres including SMGs, rifles, hand–grenades, mixed ammo and large quantity of narcotics also recovered. Elsewhere, a political worker, Syed Abid, was arrested during a raid conducted by Rangers in North Nazimabad.
According to sources in Rangers, the suspect was taken into custody over his alleged involvement in the target killing cases and was shifted to undisclosed location for interrogation. Separately, police arrested an alleged gangster, Shahjahan alias Baba, from Malir City area. Police said the accused was associated with the Sohail Dada group of Lyari gangsters, which operates in Malir. He was supposedly involved in 18 criminal cases crime, whereas weapons were also recovered from his possession. Likewise, Special Investigation Unit’s police claimed to have held at least five suspects allegedly involved in targeted killing and extortion cases in two separate raids in the metropolis.
