Karachi: 290 illegal immigrants, 39 suspects arrested
KARACHI: PakistanCoastGuards (PCG) claim to have apprehended290illegalimmigrants while law enforcersapprehendedaround39suspects during separate targetedraids and operations across the metropolis on Sunday.
According to PCG spokesperson, the operation was launched in Nalientarea near Gwadar and Windar and apprehended 290illegalimmigrants. The individuals were poised to fleeacrossPakistanborders using different land and sea routes.
He said that the group includes 266Afghannationals and remaining belong to different parts of Pakistan. Spokesperson further said that the individuals were handedover to FederalInvestigationAgency for further legaldisposal. Separately, at least fourallegeddrugpeddlers were apprehended during a joint operation conducted by Rangers and Anti-Narcotics Force in KhamisoGothareaofNewKarachi. According to ANFofficials, the operation was conducted jointly with Rangers, adding that a huge cache of narcotics including heroin and hashishworthmillionsofrupees were recovered. Moreover, as many as 35 alleged criminals were apprehended during targetedraids conducted by Rangers in parts of the metropolis including ChanesorGoth, P&T Colony, Sharifabad, MehranTown, JubileeMarket, MalikChowk in Orangi, Landhi, PIBColony, BajauriPara in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, JamaliGoth, ChandBibiRoad, GreenTown, ModelColony and SaifiLane in Lyari. According to spokesperson, around35hardenedcriminals along with weapons were apprehended during the targetedraids.
