Karachi: Rangers arrest 699 ‘criminals’ in 2 months
KARACHI: Rangers said on Monday that they had arrested 699 criminals including nine terrorists, 95 target killers, 123 extortionists and six kidnappers in the ongoing crackdown under way since September 5.
In a statement, the spokesperson for the paramilitary force said 1,324 weapons including LMGs, SMGs, uni–barrel rocket launchers, rifles, shotguns, pistols, grenades, home–made bombs and bullet proof jackets were seized during the two months.
The paramilitary force became engaged in nine encounters in which 14 terrorists and criminals were killed and for kidnapped people rescued. A Rangers soldier was killed in these encounters.
The Rangers spokesperson said on Sunday night, the paramilitary force conducted raids in Swati Colony and Ali Muhammad Brohi Goth in Landhi, Salman Farsi Society, Liaquatabad, Frontier Morr, Chanesar Goth, Falak Naz Plaza in Malir, North Nazimabad, Sikander Goth and Mominabad.
The paramilitary force also conducted a joint operation with the Anti–Narcotics Force in Khamiso Goth and snap checked vehicles at Khyber Chowk and in Garden, arresting 22 suspects.
