Swabi police arrest 2 suspected militants
SWABI: Police in Swabi arrested two suspected militants involved in sabotage and killing activities across the district. District Police Officer Sajjad Khan revealed this here on Monday. The DPO claimed that it was a major breakthrough for the police because they reached the people who made various sabotage and killing incidents in the district.
He said that the militants were identified as Arshad Khan and Anwar Wajid, presently residing at Jehangira village but hailed from Mohmand Agency.
He said that both suspects were riding on a motorbike when they were stopped near Jaganat Bridge by police party led by Station House Officer Fayaz Khan. He said that police recovered an unregistered motorbike, a bomb ready for planting, two hand grenades, two pistols and bullets from their custody. “The bomb was later defused by the bomb disposal squad,” he added.
The DPO said that during interrogation, the suspects revealed name of their chief Shah Jehan belonging to Jehangira village.
He said that after this disclosure the police raided the house of Shah Jehan in Jehangira and recovered two bombs from his house but he escaped before the raid. The bombs were defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad. The DPO said that the militants confessed killing of Wali Khan, a member of Aman Laskar, Haji Umara Khan of Dagai, Sher Baz of Muhmand Agency, Umara Khan of Swabi region and Muhammad Rehman of Qbaism pula (Yar Hussain).
“Pevez Khan, former employee of secret agency and Yousuf of Nowshera were attacked and injured ,” the DPO added. He said that the militants were also involved in planting a bomb to destroy house of Wizer Muhammad advocate.
