Bahawalpur: 17 cops booked for killing 2 in fake encounter
BAHAWALPUR: On the order of the LHC Bahawalpur Bench, Sammasatta police on Saturday night registered a case against 17 policemen, including two former SHOs, for killing two people in a fake encounter.
Those booked are Sammasatta police station former SHO Inspector Irshad Bokhari, Sadr police station former SHO Inspector Rana Qamar Zaman, SI Muhammad Imran, four ASIs and nine constables. In a petition, Fida Hussain alleged that police had killed his brother Muhammad Ashraf and another man, Muhammad Aslam, in a fake encounter near Marri Sheikh Sujra on September 25, 2012. After hearing arguments, the court ordered registration of a case against the accused policemen, but police allegedly did not register a case. Later, Fida Hussain filed a contempt of court petition. On this, the court again ordered registration of a case against the accused and finally police registered a case.
