Islamabad: 4 bootleggers arrested, 7,440 wine bottles seized
ISLAMABAD: The Sihala Police have recovered 7,440 bottles of foreign branded liquor worth millions of rupees in a raid on a factory in Model Town Humak and arrested four men, including the owner of the factory, the police spokesman said on Thursday.
On a tip-off regarding a huge quantity of liquor in plot number 189 in Model Town factory area, the SP (City) Mustansar Feeroz constituted a special team under the supervision of DSP (Rural) Malik Tahir, including SHO Sihala Police Station Inspector Abid Hussain, Sub–Inspector Muhammad Haneef, ASI Mehdi Khan, head constables Matloob Hussain, Muhammad Akhtar, Faisal Usman and constables Tahir Sajjad, Masood Akhtar, Shabbir Hussain, Asad Inayat, Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Tayyab, Naseer Ahmed and Muhammad Azhar.
The team conducted a raid on plot number 189 in Model Town factory area after getting search warrant and recovered 7,440 bottles of branded liquor being loaded in a truck (AJK–XA–062). Police arrested four persons, including the owner of the factory identified as Niamat Khan and others Shamrooz Khan, Qabil Shah and Jamal Shah.
Cases have been registered against nabbed men and further investigation is underway.
IGP (Islamabad) Sikandar Hayat has appreciated the performance of Sihala Police team and announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for its members. He has also directed all police officials to ensure effective steps to curb bootlegging, drug peddling and other activities of anti–social elements.
Meanwhile, police have obtained physical remand of the nabbed men from the concerned court.
