Karachi: 4 ‘target killers’ among 78 arrested
KARACHI: Four alleged target killers and 74 other suspects were arrested during raids conducted by the law enforcement agencies on Tuesday. The Garden police claimed to have arrested a target killer for his involvement in the murders of law enforcers.
SHO Imdad Ali Khawaja said a raid was conducted in an area in the Garden police precincts. After a brief encounter, Bilal Salim was arrested while his accomplices managed to escape, he added. He said the man had been declared an absconder and was wanted by the police for murdering Sepoy Sohail Abbas of the Rangers’ 62 Wing.
Moreover, the Mochko police claimed to have arrested three target killers. The East Range police claimed to have arrested 37 criminals, including two absconders, with eight pistols, a revolver, 31 rounds, 700 grams of hashish, five wine bottles and Rs3,000 in cash.
The West Range police claimed to have arrested 29 criminals, including five proclaimed offenders and absconders, with 16 pistols, 46 rounds, 150 grams of hashish, three mobile phones, a watch, four motorcycles and 1,200 flour bags.
The Rangers conducted a raid in Landhi No 5 and claimed to have recovered a huge cache of weapons, including two light machine guns (LMGs), a G-3 rifle, seven sub-machine guns, an 8mm rifle, a 7mm rifle, two .303 rifles, a shotgun and a large quantity of mixed ammo.
The paramilitary force also conducted raids in Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, Nusrat Bhutto Colony, Lassi Goth, Taimuria, Rufi Bungalows, Sunny Heights, Aram Bagh, Khokhrapar and other parts of Landhi. They claimed to have arrested eight hardened criminals in these raids with weapons that included LMGs, a sniper rifle, pistols and mixed ammo.
