LEAs arrest 109 suspects in Karachi
KARACHI: Law enforcers claimed to arrest about 109 “criminal” in targeted raids across the city on Tuesday. Rangers in their continued targeted operation in the city Monday night rounded up eight professional criminals and recovered weapons.
According to the Rangers’ spokesman, the targeted operation was conducted in different parts of the city including Landhi, Liaquatabad and Nazimabad among other areas.
The weapons recovered include an LMG, sniper rifle and pistols. Separately, Rangers claimed to seize a huge cache of weapons during a raid in Landhi. Rangers’ spokesman said the raid was conducted on a tip-off at an empty house situated in Landhi No 5. During the raid, Rangers recovered two light machineguns (LMGs), a G-3 rifle, seven sub machineguns (SMGs), 8mm rifle, 7mm rifle, two 303 rifles, a shotgun and a large quantity of mixed ammunitions, the spokesperson added.
Elsewhere, Garden police arrested an alleged suspect, Bilal, who was involved in the killing of Rangers personnel, Sohail Abbas, in 2010. The arrest was made during a raid conducted in Dhobi Ghat. Meanwhile, Karachi police claimed to round up 100 criminals from various city localities. Weapons were also seized.
