Rawalpindi: Bid to smuggle 1.3 kgs of heroin foiled
RAWALPINDI: The Anti–Narcotics Force (ANF), foiling an attempt of smuggling of heroin powder to Saudi Arabia, arrested a smuggler with narcotics at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA) in the we hours of Thursday.
The heroin powder was smartly concealed in shoes of the smuggler, but the ANF personnel got him as they had prior information about drug smuggling, sources maintained. The alleged drug smuggler, identified as Younas Masih, son of Mehnga Masih, 36, hailing from Khushab, holding passport number DA–0846891, was travelling from Islamabad to Saudi Arabia by flight KU-206 scheduled to fly at 5:50 a.m. on Thursday, sources said. The ANF personnel searched him thoroughly but recovered nothing. However, when his shoes were checked, 1.3 kilograms of heroin powder were recovered. The arrested man was shifted to the ANF Investigation Centre.
