Islamabad: 217 suspects held in joint operation
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad and Rawalpindi Police on Sunday conducted joint search operation in various areas of the twin cities including Afghan habitats, slum areas and arrested a total of 217 suspects and recovered 2 bikes, 2 illicit pistols, 3 guns and narcotics from their possession.
Police officials of both cities have chalked out an effective joint security plan following the directions from Minister for Interior Ch. Nisar Ali Khan and have also decided elaborate measures to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens.
This security plan has been prepared in complete consultation with IGP Islamabad Sikandar Hayat who said that Islamabad Police have devised a comprehensive plan for search and combing operation in various areas of both cities to arrest suspects and those illegally staying in the city.
Following the security plan, teams of Industrial Area, Sabzi Mandi and Pirwadhai police stations headed by SP Industrial Areas Hassan Iqbal conducted joint search operation in Pirwadhai as well as its adjacent areas and arrested a total of 114 suspects who are being investigated further.
Twin cities’ police took finger prints of these nabbed suspects while their CNICs are being verified and mobile data being confirmed. Meanwhile, the Sadar Zone Police have recovered arms and ammunition and arrested 101 suspects during a search operation conducted mid Saturday night, in different localities falling in the jurisdiction of Tarnol Police Station, police said.
SP (Sadar Zone) Jamil Hashmi, himself, supervised the operation, while 300 cops of various police station under Sadar Zone including Elite Force commandos and ATS took part in the operation, the police maintained.
SP (Sadar Zone) Jamil Hashmi, when contacted by this scribe, said that inspector general of police (IGP) has constituted a strategy to comb out every locality of federal capital to sweep out anti–social elements active in and around Islamabad to make it a crime-free city. He said that Dhoke Abbasi, Sarai Kharbooza and Ittefaq Colony, falling in the jurisdiction of Tarnol Police Station, were chosen for search operation where, according to police report, many gangsters involved in street crimes, were hiding.
Hashmi said that heavy contingent of police including commandos of ATS and Elite Force, cordoned off the localities chosen for search operation and blocked all exits of those vicinities to lessen the chances of the escape of the gangsters.
During the sudden search operation in Dhoke Abbasi, Sarai Karbooza and Ittefaq Colony, 101 suspects were detained, the SP said adding that one 222 gun, one SMG, one repeater, a 30–bore pistol, one 22-bore pistol, two stolen bikes and small quantity of heroin recovered during the operation.
