Child recovered, kidnappers held in Mardan
MARDAN: A senior police officer saidon Monday a five–year–old child, kidnapped from the Saddar Police Station limits, was recovered and the alleged kidnappers arrested.
District Police Officer (DPO) Gul Afzal Afridi said this while addressing a news conference where the abducted child, his father and other relatives were also present. The DPO said the kidnappers picked Mansoor Khan, resident of Mansaf Killay, on December 21 when he was playing outside his home.
He added that later his family members received a call from the kidnappers, demanding Rs7,000,000 for his release. He said that on the complaint of Sher Afgan, father of the child, the police registered cases against Sher Bahadur, Saddam and Shoaib under sections 365–A and 7-ATA.
The DPO police started investigating the case and succeeded to recover the abducted child from Prang Ghar in Charsadda district while arresting an alleged kidnaper identified as Mukhtiar.
The official said that Sher Bahadur and his son Saddam, who is a neighbour of the abducted child, had planned the kidnapping bid. He said the police would also make others arrested soon.
