Karachi: Lyari gangsters among 65 suspects held
KARACHI: Paramilitary soldiers and police rounded up another 65 suspected criminals in raids across the city on Monday.
The spokesman for the Sindh Rangers said raids were conducted in Micassa Centre in Landhi, Old Golimar, Pathan Colony, Frontier Colony, Manghopir, Lyari, Korangi Number 5½, Malir City, Faqir Colony, 400 Quarters and Usmanabad.
A swoop on hideouts of the Faisal Pathan group of the Lyari gang war in Gulistan Colony and Lyari was led to the safe recovery of an abducted man and the arrests of three gangsters.
During the raids, 17 criminals, including Lyari gangsters and members of banned outfits, were arrested.
The soldiers also seized a huge cache of weapons, including submachine guns and hand grenades.
The Karachi Range Police conducted 54 raids and picked up 47 suspects, including 23 absconders and proclaimed offenders included. Fifteen illegal arms and narcotics were also confiscated.
