335 arrested in December in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police have arrested 254 outlaws and 81 absconders during December 2013 for their alleged involvement in different crimes.
Police also recovered 7,933 wine bottles, 9.840 kilograms of hashish, 224 grams of heroin, 34 vehicles, two bikes, 32 pistols and 3 Kalashnikovs and stolen goods from them, the police spokesman said on Tuesday.
IGP (Islamabad) Sikandar Hayat directed all heads of police stations for effective steps to curb activities of criminal elements. He also ordered for crackdown against proclaimed offenders and court absconders.
In crackdown against absconders, the Islamabad Police arrested 43 proclaimed offenders, 41 court absconders while 254 criminals were arrested during this period besides recovery of looted items worth Rs3,334,350 from them. Police also recovered 34 stolen and tampered with cars, 2 bikes, 7,933 wine bottles, 9.840 kilograms of hashish, 224 grams of heroin, 32 pistols, one rifle, 3 Kalashnikovs and mobile phones from them.
The Islamabad Police conducted a raid on three brothels and arrested 10 men and 9 women for their alleged involvement in immoral activities. In all, 1,057 beggars were apprehended and 789 were shifted to the Edhi home, 99 to Child Protection Centres and 169 were sent to courts.
