Karachi: Arms dealer nabbed among 9 suspects
KARACHI: Law enforcers claimed to have arrested at least nine criminals during separate targeted raids and operations on Thursday. Special Investigation Unit detained an alleged weapons smuggler and recovered huge caches of weapons during a raid conducted on a tip-off at Narsari Stop, Shahrah-e-Faisal.
The accused was identified as Shaukat Ali, from Balochistan, who smuggled weapons to Karachi via Balochistan to distribute among criminals.
The official also recovered two 8mm rifles, 23 twelve bore rifles, 19 30-bore rifles, five 7mm rifles, two 32-bore pistols and eight 9mm pistols.
The case has been registered against him to initiate investigation. Separately, Pakistan Rangers Sindh detained around eight criminals during separate targeted raids conducted in Jumma Goth, Gulshan-e-Ghazi, Korangi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 13-D, Jalalabad, Pashamba Goth and Mohammad Pur.
Spokesman claimed to have recovered weapons, explosive material and motorbikes from their possession. The detainees were shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning, spokesman added.
