Karachi: Over 100 ‘criminals’ rounded up in raids
KARACHI: The Rangers rounded up 19 alleged hardened criminals during their ongoing raids in different parts of the city, while the police arrested over 100 suspects and recovered weapons and drugs from their possession on Tuesday.
The Rangers (Sindh) spokesman said the personnel conducted raids in Kanwari Colony, Sherpao Colony, FB Area, Rozzi Goth, Mehmoodabad, Manghopir Road, Kalakot, Gul Goth and Khokrapar areas. Besides snap checking was carried out at Bahadurabad Chowrangi.
The Rangers launched a massive search operation in Kanwari Colony following an IED blast near Rangers mobile, and arrested nine suspects, including members of banned outfits. Besides, a kidnapee Qamar Mehmood was rescued from Retti Pahari area.
The West Range police claimed to have conducted 31 raids and arrested 30 outlaws, including 14 proclaimed offenders and absconders, and recovered seven pistols, 31 rounds, 1,280 grams of hashish, a cellphone, cash and three motorcycles from their possession. Besides, two alleged extortionists were arrested from Mauripur and Site–A areas.
The East Range police arrested 81 suspects, including five absconders, and recovered eight pistols, 30 rounds, 490 grams of hashish, nine motorcycles and two trucks. A team of Special Investigation Unit conducted a raid in Baldia Town and arrested two suspects Atif and Ghazi and seized two pistols.
