Islamabad: Politician arrested, 1.5 tonnes of explosives seized
ISLAMABAD: Frontier Corps (FC) Inspector General Major General Ejaz Shahid on Wednesday told the Senate Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control that Balochistan FC had arrested a politician from Quetta and recovered 1.5 tonnes of explosive material.
Several miscreants/insurgents are arrested by law–enforcement agencies after hectic efforts but they are released on bail due to poor prosecution or absence of proper law to punish them which, the FC IG added, affect the morale of troops.
He also said that 360 paramilitary personnel had been martyred in Balochistan since 2007 and still they were fighting. The FC IG said that those fighting security forces should not be called “enraged elements” but “militants”.
He added, “Now Pakistani flags are fluttering over school buildings where the flags of banned outfits used to be hoisted.”
He said that terrorist activities demoralised police, adding that the FC had rendered many sacrifices in Balochistan but the force was not being encouraged.
He regretted that FC needed Rs 28 billion but it was paid only Rs 15 billion.
