Karachi: Over 70kg of heroin seized at Port Qasim
KARACHI: The Anti–Narcotics Force (ANF) on Friday claimed to have seized 70.1 kilograms of high quality heroin that was being smuggled to Malaysia under the guise of a commercial shipment.
According to officials, a team deployed at Port Qasim seized the shipment, worth approximately Rs 498 million, and busted a gang of five smugglers. “During a routine checking round at Port Qasim, an ANF seaport team conducted an inspection of a container (FSCU–7524415) destined for Kelang, Malaysia,” said an ANF official, Colonel Habib.
“The cargo comprised of rock salt packets that were packed in almost 750 cartons. The team initially checked five cartons at random, one of which contained packs of heroin.
