Peshawar police arrest 20 suspected criminals in search operation
PESHAWAR: Police in Peshawar claimed to have arrested at least 20 alleged criminals during a search operation on the outskirts of the city, SAMAA reported.
Officials said police during their crackdown conducted house–to–house search in Reki area of Peshawar, arresting three absconders and 17 suspects. Arms were also recovered from most of the suspects, police said.
Peshawar, a gateway to Pakistan’s tribal agencies, has been on militants target over the past several years where bombing in busy markets and mosques have killed hundreds of innocent people, causing loss of properties as well.
Police have been conducting search operations across Peshawar in which a large number of suspected militants have been arrested. Also, a limited military offensive is underway against militant groups loyal to Taliban and al Qaida in tribal areas bordering Afghanistan.
