Islamabad: 8 criminal gangs busted, wanted ‘killers’ arrested
ISLAMABAD: The police claimed to have busted eight criminal gangs and arrested dozens of criminals who were wanted to police for their alleged involvement in kidnapping for ransom, robbery, car theft and murder cases.
The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) and the anti–car lifting cell (ACLC) of the Islamabad police were assigned various cases for their immediate resolution following which Islamabad SSP Muhammad Rizwan constituted special teams under the supervision of SP (Investigation) Muhammad Ilyas. These teams commenced their investigation on scientific lines and succeeded in busting eight gangs whose members were involved in crimes of heinous nature.
According to police, a total of 24 nabbed gangsters have confessed to their involvement in murders, robberies, kidnapping for ransom and car thefts.
The police teams also recovered snatched as well as looted items from them; include gold ornaments, mobile phones, laptops and cash.
One of the busted gangs include that of Afghan nationals, whose members have been identified as Ajab Gul, Hayat Khan, Ziaul Haq, Nurullah, Nizam Khan, Asmatullah, Imran and Shamas Gul. These gangsters confessed to murdering former secretary Zar Khaleel and injuring his wife during a robbery bid at his house in Sector D12.
They also admitted to injuring an officer of the armed forces, Ameenullah, during a robbery at his house upon offering resistance to the bid.
Two other alleged gangsters – Khalil of Sector G6/1-2 and Babar Khan of Sector G8 – admitted to ransacking four houses in the area of Margalla Police Station. Three televisions, cash and laptops have been recovered from them, the police said.
The CIA police also claimed to have arrested Asif of Bari Imam area and Ali Zeb for their alleged involvement in robbing a general store in G6/1-2 in broad daylight, besides three other such incidents in Margalla area.
Another accused, Bilal Shah of Kohistan Colony, Sadiqabad, Rawalpindi, had been arrested. Police say the accused used to mug people at gunpoint.
Two alleged killers, identified as Arshad alias Gora and Ziaul Haq, both residents of Afghanistan, have also been arrested. They have been accused of assassinating a merchant in the Islamabad Fruit Market over resistance during a robbery bid.
The CIA police also said that they had arrested three persons, who were on the run after the arrest of their other accomplices, in kidnapping for ransom cases. They kidnapped two citizens from Ramana and Golra areas and had demanded millions of rupees for their release. These alleged kidnappers have been identified as Sherzada, Imran Khan, Akram and Shah Jehan.
Meanwhile, the ACLC teams succeeded in busting an inter–provincial gang of car thieves whose members have been identified as Tasleem alias Lal Kohistani, Naveed Akhtar, Babar Ali and Raees Mir. They have confessed to taking away eight cars from Islamabad, four from Havelian and three each from Abbottabad and Rawalpindi.
Two other car snatchers have also been arrested, who confessed to snatching two cars from the Margalla police area.
