Inter-provincial gang smashed in Lahore
LAHORE: Lahore CIA police on Friday claimed to have smashed an inter–provincial gang of robbers by arresting its eight members including the ringleader, who were wanted to the police in several cases of armed robberies.
A police spokesman said that the arrested criminals of Baloch dacoit gang were involved in more than 40 incidents of looting the passengers of international flights after they landed from abroad at Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad airports.
The police claimed that they also recovered local and foreign currency, gold ornaments and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from their possession.
The arrested bandits, disguised as security personnel and clad in uniforms of FIA, Anti–Narcotics Force, Airport Security Force, and SIU, used to rob the motorists at gunpoint. They used to start chasing the passengers of international flights as they leave the airport premises for their native towns.
According to officials, Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Chaudhry Shafique Ahmed took serious notice of the armed robberies in which the passengers of international flights were targeted and robbed at gunpoint.
The Lahore police chief directed SP CIA Muhammad Omar Virk to take special measures to unearth the gangsters. Ultimately, a special police team constituted for this purpose collected information from the victims and conducted raids at different places and arrested ringleader of the gang, Waleed Khan Baloch, and his seven accomplices. The accused were identified as Ahmed Raza, Sikandar Khan, Aslam alias Ayub, Adnan, Hassan Qasim, Waleed Khan, alias, Wali Pathan and Muhammad Yasir.
