Nowshera: 3 militants held before PM’s visit
NOWSHERA: The police arrested three suspected militants near the Ambar Interchange on the Islamabad–Peshawar Motorway when the law–enforcement agencies were clearing the area ahead of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to Tarbela Dam.
The sources said the prime minister’s entourage had to drive on the Motorway and pass through the Ambar Interchange on the way to Tarbela Dam when the three militants, one of them identified as Qari Anas alias Abu Musa, were spotted armed with sniper guns and taking positions in the area.
Federal Minister for Defence Khwaja Mohammad Asif, Minister for Information Pervez Rashid, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah and senior officials were accompanying the prime minister.
The sources said the personnel of the law–enforcement agencies, including the police, managed to apprehend the militants before they could cause any harm. The sources claimed that the militants were trained snipers and were apparently waiting for the prime minister.
