Lahore: 21 gangsters nabbed, booty worth Rs 9.5m recovered
LAHORE: The CIA police has arrested 21 members of three different gangs and recovered booty worth Rs 9.5 million and illicit weapons from their possession.
This was announced by DIG Investigation Zulfiqar Hameed in a press conference on Tuesday. He said that some robbers had shot and wounded a Chinese national, Liu Anguang, on January 15 and looted Rs 2 million from him. He said that CCPO Lahore Chaudhry Shafique Ahmad had taken serious notice of the incident and directed SP CIA Muhammad Umer Virk and SP City to look into the matter and round up the criminals involved in the incident.
He said that CIA police made efforts and arrested Wajid Rehman, Fakhhar Abbas, NAeem Ahmad and Imran Khan and recovered the looted cash and illegal weapons from their possession.
He added that the CIA police busted another gang of robbers and arrested its nine members who had attempted to kidnap the owner of Razzaq Trust Hospital in Mughalpura, murdered a salesman of Allied Marketing, and looted cash from a trader on Brandearth Road and cash from a departmental store. The arrested robbers were identified as Javed Khan, Asim, Irfan, Zafar Iqbal, Hashim Butt, Shoaib Butt, Rehan Ali and Haider.
DIG said that the CIA police arrested eight members of another gang of robbers and recovered gold ornaments, cash, bikes and illegal weapons from their possession. The arrested robbers were identified as Usman, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Sadheer, Zafar, Kalimullah, Mohammad Akram and Ali Hameed. DIG said that most of the members of the said three gangs were proclaimed offenders who had committed robberies in Lahore and Sheikhupura.
Replying to a query regarding killings of eight people in Johar Town, he said that forensic and fingerprint reports had suggested that the accused Nazeer, who had psychological problems and was depressed, had killed the house inmates and later ended his life. Nazeer tried to commit suicide in 2012 besides making an attempt to kill one of his employees by throwing acid on him in Vehari, he added.
