Karachi: 4 ‘car snatchers’ arrested
KARACHI: The Anti–Car Lifting Cell claimed to have arrested four suspects on Wednesday for their involvement in car snatchings in the city.
The ACLC DSP said that during investigations into car snatchings, they found out that most car–lifters used the Northern Bypass area.
He then deployed the cell’s teams for checking vehicles at the bypass in Mochko, during which the law enforcers spotted four suspicious men in a car.
They were signalled to stop, but they opened fire on the police, who retaliated and arrested all the four suspects and impounded the vehicle.
The suspects were identified as Fahim Mengal, Imran, Abdul Aziz and Zakir Hussain. They had pistols on them, and the car they were travelling in turned out to be the stolen property of the Preedy police station.
Information gathered from the four men led to the recovery of another car from Baldia Town. The vehicle was the stolen property of the Darakhshan police.
The detainees revealed that they used to snatch vehicles with their drivers still in the vehicles and later abandoned them on the highway, following which the cars were taken to Hub. They mostly snatched cars from posh localities of the city.
