Peshawar: 1 more arrested in police weapons scam
PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau Khyber Pak–htunkhwa on Monday arrested Zahid Iqbal, who had allegedly taken Rs10 million as bribe from contractor Arshad Majeed by promising him to use his good offices in the NAB to close the police weapons scam inquiry.
In an official communiqué, the NAB claimed that the accused was wanted by the NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but he had gone into hiding after sensing the gravity of the situation. It said that during initial interrogations the accused had disclosed some vital information which might lead to the arrest of more people in connection with the Rs2.03 billion scam resulting from the supply of weapons and equipment to the provincial Police Department. It said the accused would be produced before the Accountability Court in Peshawar today for physical remand.
