CIA busts gang of car thieves in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD: The CIA Police have busted an inter-provincial gang of car thieves and arrested drug–pushers besides recovering five kilograms of hashish and weapons from them, the police spokesman said on Wednesday.
He said the CIA police got information that three car thieves and drug–pushers were present in F-8 who used to smuggle narcotics from Khyber–Pakhtunkhwa to the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and depart after taking away stolen cars.
Following this information, AIG (Operations) Sultan Azam Temuri directed SP (Investigation) Jamil Hashmi for immediate action. A special police team was constituted which succeeded in arresting three men — Maqbool Ahmed, Zahid Hussain and Tahir Gul — besides recovering five kilograms of hashish and two 30-bore pistols from them. During preliminary investigation, they confessed to lifting several cars from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and selling them in Nowshera to Adnan Khan.
Police have obtained their physical remand from the concerned court and further investigation is underway from them.
Meanwhile, the CIA Police nabbed red–handed crew of a PSO oil tanker, including driver Riaz and conductor Aisf, who took away 80 litres of diesel from the tanker and sold it at the PSO petrol pump in Ghora Gali, Murree, to Sharafat. They have confessed to their involvement in such activities earlier and they are being investigated further.
