Dera Ghazi Khan: Bid to smuggle wheat into Afghanistan foiled
DERA GHAZI KHAN: Dera Police foiled a bid to smuggle ten thousand wheat bags into Afghanistan and arrested two drivers on Tuesday.
The action was taken by the Food Department and the police in a joint action after a report that wheat bags were being smuggled into Afghanistan. Police officials told journalists that a team of police and the Food Department checked nine trucks loaded with wheat bags and during the investigation the truck drivers told the police that they were taking the wheat to Afghanistan via KPK. The officials said the truck drivers could not produce documents for taking the wheat. A case has been registered. The food officials said flour mills of other provinces could purchase wheat with permission from the authorities concerned. They said check posts had been established in different areas to check wheat smuggling.
