Peshawar: 2 cops held over extortion
PESHAWAR: Two personnel of police department were arrested who were involved in extortion and intimidating citizen through unknown cell numbers.
Police sources said that the accused police personnel Waheed Gul and Saeed were receiving extortions from people and were also intimidating people. Following the public complaints, an enquiry was conducted against both police personnel and after proving the allegations they would be terminated from their duties and sent to jail.
Meanwhile city police in a successful crackdown arrested eight proclaimed offenders and recovered sophisticated weapons from their possession on Friday.
Following the directives of chief capital city police, a team was constituted under the leadership of SSP Operation Najeeb-ur-Rahman, who raided the suspected hideouts of criminals.
During these raids, police arrested eight outlaws and twelve illegal Afghan nationals. Police also recovered three AK-47 riffles, 16 pistols, one rifles, 86 cartridges, 3kg chars and five bottles of liquor. Police registered FIR and started investigation in this regard.
