3 extortionists arrested in Manshera, say police
MANSEHRA: The police claimed to have arrested three alleged militants, including a Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan commander, who reportedly threatened politicians and businessmen to demand ransom.
“We have arrested three miscreants, one of them belonging to the TTP who threatened former opposition leader in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Shahzada Gusatsap Khan and a businessman Raja Nisar and demanded ransom from them,” District Police Officer Khuram Rashid told a press conference here on Sunday.
The three arrested man with their faces covered were also presented to the media along with arms, hands grenades and mobile phones they had allegedly used for threatening people. The official said TTP commander from Abbottabad, Qari Shahzad and his two local associates Qari Usman and Mukhtar Khan had threatened Shahzada Gustasap Khan and Raja Nisar and were arrested during a raid in Mansehra.
He said the arrested militants were being interrogated. “More details of their past activities would be made public soon,” he added. The official said the accused used to hurl threats at their targets and their families if they did not pay them the ransom. Khuram Rashid said accused had demanded Rs5 million from Shahzada Gusatsap and Rs2.5 million from Raja Nisar through cell-phone calls.
