Islamabad: ANF seizes 9 kg of heroin, 1.1 kg of amphetamine
ISLAMABAD: The Anti–Narcotics Force (ANF) have seized nine kgs of heroin and 1.1 kg of amphetamine, and arrested three persons from the Islamabad airport and a courier company in Lahore.
The ANF Rawalpindi team on information conducted an operation at the Islamabad airport and recovered 3.04 kgs of heroin from two employees of the Civil Aviation Authority, Masood Hussain (electrician) and Muhammad Sabir (aircraft mechanic), said a press release.
The ANF team intercepted them at the PIA Cargo Terminal, where they were in possession of eight books in which off-white heroin was concealed. Both the individuals approached the cargo terminal by car and motorcycle. Initial investigation revealed that they wanted to send it to Holland.
The ANF Rawalpindi Airport team conducted an operation at the Islamabad Airport and arrested a passenger Hamayun Afzal, resident of Chakwal, while recovering 1.1 kg of amphetamine tactfully concealed in his trolley bag. He was to travel to Bahrain by the Gulf Airline Flight No GF–771.
The ANF Lahore on information conducted an operation and seized six kgs of heroin tactfully concealed in a garment parcel, being sent abroad through the UPS courier company from Gulberg.
The drugs were tactfully concealed in packing of cotton trousers and t-shirts. The parcel was dispatched by Aqil Shah, resident of Sargodha, and was destined for the UK. Cases have been registered at the ANF Police Stations and further investigations were under progress.
