Karachi: 2 profiteers held, 101 fined
KARACHI: The divisional and district administration of Karachi has imposed fines of up to Rs145,500 on 101 shopkeepers and arrested two for allegedly profiteering and violating officially approved price lists. According to a statement issued by the administration on Monday, the action taken as part of the ongoing crackdown resulted in fines for 52 milk sellers, 11 food items grocers, 36 chicken sellers and two meat vendors. The action against profiteers was taken in various areas including Korangi, Ibrahim, Hyderi, Bin Qasim, New Karachi, North Nazimabad, Liaquat Abad, Gulshan Iqbal, Gulzar, Hijri, Jamshed Quarters, Ferozabad and Saddar.
Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that the crackdown against profiteers will continue till its logical end.
