Bannu police arrest terrorist
BANNU: The police arrested a terrorist, who was trying to enter Bannu district in the guise of an internally displaced person (IDP), an official said on Friday. Speaking at a press conference, District Police Officer (DPO) Abdur Rasheed Khan said that acting on a tip-off the police party started searching the vehicles heading to Bannu district from North Waziristan.
He said the police stopped one of the vehicles (KB–7691) and after thorough search recovered two American guns, two repeater guns, two hand–grenades, several pistols, hundreds of cartridges and three kilograms of hashish.
The police arrested one Naseerullah, who was travelling along with the IDPs,” the DPO said, adding, the arms were being shifted to either Karachi or Punjab. “Two national identity cards have been recovered from Naseerullah.
One card carries his Bannu address with his name as Naseerullah while another card has his Mir Ali address with a name Nasirullah Khasukhel,” the DPO said. The official said the accused actually belonged to Bannu district and he along with his family had shifted to Mir Ali some time back.
He said the officials of the National Database and Registration Authority would also be questioned as to how he was issued two cards. He said the IDPs, who were travelling in the same vehicle, had also been taken into custody and would be set free if found innocent.
