Rawalpindi: 8 held in crackdown on sellers of firework
RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi City Police under special campaign against sellers of crackers and fireworks items conducted raids on Friday night and netted eight accused.
Earlier, the city district government had prohibited the preparation and sale of crackers and varieties of fireworks, particularly on the occasion of Shab–e-Baraat. Special directives were issued for crackdowns to apprehend the violators and to register cases against them. According to Police spokesman, Waris Khan police held Khurram Akram. New Town police arrested Muhammad Maskeen. Sadiqabad police nabbed Iftikhar Ahmed. Naseerabad police rounded up Hanif Ullah and Malik Nawbaz and recovered crackers and fireworks items from their possession. Meanwhile Airport police raided at a wedding ceremony and arrested Muzhar Hussain, Roshan Din and Ishtiaq for using fireworks.
