Rawalpindi: 10 kilograms of charas recovered, 4 arrested
RAWALPINDI: The Anti–Narcotics Force (ANF), Rawalpindi, in two operations, recovered ten kilograms of charas and arrested four persons on Thursday. The ANF received information that a group of inter–province drug smugglers will try to smuggle a huge quantity of drugs from Tribal Areas to Rawalpindi via GT Road.
Acting on the tip-off, the ANF Rawalpindi commander directed the staff of ANF Police Station, Attock, to be vigilant. On the orders of the force commander, the ANF Police intercepted a Honda car, bearing registration number LOX-7558, near Iqbal Shaheed Toll Plaza at GT Road. During search of the car, six kilograms of charas were recovered from secret cavities of the vehicle. Two men, identified as Shakirullah, son of Muhammad Akbar, hailing from Rawalpindi, and Muhammad Sohail, son of Muhammad Ashraf, resident of Abbottabad, were arrested.
In another operation, the Attock ANF Police Station staff intercepted a motorcycle, bearing registration number RIL 119, at GT Road near Hatian. During search of motorcycle riders, four kilograms of charas were recovered from the two drug–peddlers hailing from Hazro, Attock.
Cases under the Narcotics Act were registered at the Attock ANF Police Station against the arrested persons. Further investigation is in process.
