NAB arrests government official in Karachi
KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Assistant Director Anti Encroachment Cell Hyderabad Muhammad Hussain Mughal in connection with the Rainee Canal Project case. According to a press release issued on Thursday, NAB officials, during the investigation of the case arrested the accused.
The land for the project, being executed by Wapda, was acquired through the revenue department. However, investigations proved that the estate was illegally converted to private lands. The accused and Gulsher Ahmed Solangi DDO Revenue along with other accused persons revised the defaulted and cancelled grants and issued forms to bogus Khatedars. This resulted in a loss of Rs500 million to the government exchequer.
