Sukkur: 3 officials, 7 govt contractors held by FIA
SUKKUR: The FIA nabbed on Thursday 10 accused, including three engineers and seven contractors, in a misappropriation of funds case. Investigation Officer of the FIA, Nisar Ahmad Sawand said the arrested officers included Muhammad Yusuf Lakho XEN Roads; Assistant Engineer Aftab Memon, Sub–Engineer (SE) Roads Shaukat Husain.
The arrested government contractors included Ilahi Bakhsh Mahar, Muneez-ul-Haq, Punhal Faqir Jamro, Abdul Hameed, Veero Mal and Sajid Chachar. They had obtained bail from the Sindh High Court Circuit Bench but their bail period was over on Thursday and they had reached the trial court – Special Anti–corruption Court.
The court refused them further time of bail after which the FIA team nabbed and shifted them to the Nara Central Jail, Hyderabad after getting remand from the court. He said the accused were involved in misappropriation of the development fund of the MNAs and the PM.
He said out of 54 accused the FIA had so far arrested 32 and was conducting raids to arrest the others. Meanwhile, Deputy Director FIA, Sukkur, said another scam of Rs810 million in National Bank, Mirpur Mathello, had also been detected and a case against Manager Zubiar Almani, Amanullah Sheikh, Abdul Bari, Fahad Sial, Ashfaq Shah and others had been registered. He said the FIA team was conducting raids to arrest them.
