Peshawar: Brother of Taliban commander arrested
PESHAWAR: The Pishtakhara Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested an Afghan national, who is said to be brother of a former senior Taliban commander, and recovered explosives and detonators from him. Police officials claimed that an Afghan national was stopped at a checkpost. When his luggage was searched, police recovered two kilograms of explosive powder along with safety fuses and detonators.
Sources, however, said that the accused Najmul Haq who was a prayer leader was arrested over a week back and was kept in various lock-ups of the provincial capital. The source said he along with other family members was arrested during a raid on their house near the Ring Road .Police could not find anything against the accused but later directed the Pishtakhara Police to book him for carrying explosives.
