Rawalpindi: 4 gamblers among 53 lawbreakers held
RAWALPINDI: The police in its drive against the anti–social elements have arrested 53 alleged lawbreakers, including four gamblers and a drunkard from different localities during the last four days.
The police also recovered over 10 kilogrammes of charas, 7,000 grammes of heroin, six bottles of liquor, 25 litres of wine, 10 pistols of 30 bore with 25 rounds, three rifles of 12 bore, one rifle of 222 bore, kites, string rolls, firework items, Rs 15,300 cash stake money and four mobile phones from the possession of the arrested accused.
According to the Rawalpindi police spokesperson, the Westridge police netted a man for having 1,020 grammes of charas. The Saddar Baroni police held another accused for possessing 1,160 grammes of charas. The Westridge police recovered 1,010 grammes of charas from another accused. The Pir Wadhai police nabbed a man for having 1,120 grammes of charas. The Bunni police apprehended an accused for possessing 1,500 grammes of charas. The Sadiqabad police recovered five litres of wine from the possession of an accused.
The Saddar Baroni police also recovered 10 litres of wine from another accused. The Cantt police arrested an accused for carrying two liquor bottles while another man was booked as the police seized two liquor bottles. The Sadiqabad police arrested an accused as he was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. Meanwhile, the Pir Wadhai police, acting on a tip-off conducted a raid in Zia Colony and arrested four people who were involved in betting while playing cards. The police recovered Rs 15,300 cash stake money and four mobile phones from their possession.
