Peshawar: NAB arrests assistant political agent on corruption charges
PESHAWAR: National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Thursday arrested Maqsood Hassan, assistant political agent Upper Kurram Agency, on the charges of accumulation of assets beyond known sources of his income.
According to details, a complaint was received in KP NAB wherein it was mentioned that Maqsood Hassan, then assistant political agent Mohmand, has accumulated huge assets including a house, several plots in Hayatabad and heavy investments in National Savings schemes, besides maintaining a number of vehicles by him and his family members.
The NAB took the cognisance of the case and started inquiry. During inquiry it was revealed that the accusations contained in the complaint were true. Therefore, the NAB arrested the accused for further investigations. The accused will be produced before the accountability court for obtaining his physical remand into NAB custody.
Meanwhile, NAB arrested another accused Rana Babar Shaukat in embezzlement of funds by officials/officer of the Pak PWD in Batkhela case. Reportedly the accused was DAO of Pak PWD Office Batkhela from October 2009 to July 2011. During his tenure in the said office he made payments of millions of rupees to contractors for ghost / substandard and incomplete schemes. In the said case NAB already arrests four officials of Pak PWD Batkhela and investigations are going on.
