Karachi: 27 illegal cattle pen owners arrested
KARACHI: The Central district administration arrested 27 people on Wednesday for violating section 144 placed on setting up sacrificial animal markets. The crackdown was launched by Deputy Commissioner (Central) Dr Syed Saifur Rehman and 17 people from North Karachi, four from Nazimabad, three from Gulberg, two from Liaquatabad and one from North Nazimabad were arrested.
Cases were registered against them under section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Rehman while warning violators of strict legal action said: “Section 144 had already been imposed in the city, prohibiting setting up of illegal cattle markets but some people had violated the law.”
He said illegal cattle markets were causing traffic chaos as well as increasing risks of street crimes. Fodder camps established along road sides were affecting the beauty of the city, he added.
