Explosives recovered in Landikotal raid, 4 arrested
LANDIKOTAL: The security forces on Thursday recovered a huge quantity of explosives from a house in Ashkhel area of Landikotal tehsil in Khyber Agency, official sources said. The sources said the four suspected persons were also arrested in the raid. “Land and anti–vehicle mines, remote–controlled devices, thousands of different kinds of bullets and other explosive materials. Four suspected persons were also arrested in the raid,” said an official.
The officials said the arms and ammunition were meant to be used in anti-state activities in Landikotal. Two days ago, the security forces seized explosive material and arms from a British-era empty compound in the same Ashkhel mountainous area.
Meanwhile, Torkham border authorities arrested an Afghan national and recovered dozens of 9MM pistol bullets from his possession. The accused was trying to smuggle the bullets to Afghanistan by concealing it in medicine cartons. The arrested Afghan national was sent to Landikotal lockup for investigation.
