Rawalpindi: Police arrest 2 alleged target killers
RAWALPINDI: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested two alleged target killers. Rawalpindi Regional Police Officer (RPO), Akhtar Umar Hayat Lalika addressing a press conference said that a special team was constituted to arrest the target killers under the supervision of City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, Hamyoun Bashir Tarar.
The team managed to net two target killers namely Adil Abbas alias Abbasu son of Gulzar Hussain resident of Mohallah Dr. Jalal Shah Haideri Chowk, Dera Ismail Khan and Ghulam Mujataba alias Janu son of Ghulam Murtaza R/O Mohallah Bora Shah Nazar Hussani, Dera Ismail Khan. The RPO said the arrested accused are target killers and confessed to killing total 24 persons in different areas of the country including Districts Dera Ismail Khan and Bakhar. He informed that the accused were sent behind the bars as they allegedly opened fire on two constables near Chandni Chowk and a case number 625 registered under section 324/353/186/34 and 7ATA in Bunni Police Station on October, 30, 2011. The RPO said that all out efforts are being made to net other accused involved in target killing cases here. He said, the accused had also confessed that they wanted to target several other Ulemas. Further investigations are underway and police is expecting some sensational revelations from them, he added. Akhtar Umar Hayat Lalika said that after target killing incidents in Rawalpindi district, special directives were issued to City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi to take solid steps to check suspected persons and arrest target killers. This occasion, CPO Rawalpindi Hamyoun Bashir Tarar was also present.
