2 suspects arrested in Karachi
KARACHI: The police team probing the attack on Special Investigation Unit chief SSP Farooq Awan rounded up two suspects on Tuesday with the assistance of intelligence officials. The two men were arrested in a raid in Manghopir. Sources said the suspects were of Burmese origin and had been arrested earlier in terrorism cases. They were presently out on bail.
On September 28, SSP Awan was wounded in a bomb attack near Khayaban-e-Momin, in DHA. The attack also injured eight others and killed two civilians.
Two teams were formed to probe the case. They included Crime Investigation Department Counter–Terrorism Wing chief Raja Umer Khattab and Sectarian Cell chief Khurram Waris.
The investigators went through the CCTV footage of the incident and other evidence found at the crime scene. They also interrogated arrested Taliban terrorists about the case.
