Islamabad: ANF foils bid to smuggle 50kg of heroin abroad
ISLAMABAD: The Anti–Narcotics Force (ANF) has foiled a bid to smuggle 50kg of heroin abroad and recovered 28.3kg of charas in three different raids in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. The value of the seized drugs amounts to Rs334 million approximately in the international market, said an ANF press release issued here on Tuesday. According to details, the ANF Karachi seaport team received information regarding smuggling of heroin through a container carrying tin packed food or beverages at the Karachi seaports. A container was spotted at the Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT), which was carrying Nestle juices of 250ml and one litre packs.
The container was loaded with 1800 cartons, each carrying 12 packs of Nestle juice. Out of 21,600 juice packs, 300 juice packs of one liter contained polythene sachet packets. These packets were water-proof and dipped inside the juice. The juice cartons were repeatedly wrapped with polythene to avoid dog sniffing. A total of about 50.18 kg of heroin was recovered from the shipment, which was destined for Malaysia.
Meanwhile, the ANF Karachi raided a house situated at Ali Goth, Ibrahim Haideri, Malir and seized 25kg of charas from there. The ANF Rawalpindi apprehended two brothers Muhammad Arif and Hikmat Khan, residents of Islamabad and recovered 1.1kg of charas from them.
They were taken into custody near a graveyard, Kuri Bus Stop, Rawalpindi while travelling on a motorcycle. The ANF Lahore arrested Irfan Khan and recovered 2.2kg of charas from his possession. He was arrested from Abdullah Travels Bus Stand in Lahore.
