Islamabad: ANF recovers Rs782m drugs, four drug peddlers arrested
ISLAMABAD: Anti–Narcotics Force (ANF) in various operations conducted at Rawalpindi, Lahore and Peshawar, foiled several attempts to smuggle narcotics, and seized 114 kilograms of Heroin and 24 kilograms Charas worth Rs782 million approximately in international market. During the operations, four drug offenders including a female drug peddler were rounded up and two vehicles confiscated. Most of the recovered drug was destined abroad.
ANF Lahore Airport Team on pursuance of information foiled a bid to smuggle Heroin abroad and recovered 108 kilograms of fine quality Heroin from a consignment at Air Cargo, Allama Iqbal International Airport, and Lahore. The consignment was carrying grinding machine in a wooden box and Heroin was tactfully concealed inside the wooden packing. According to details, the consignment was destined for Malaysia and was booked by Inam Ullah hailing from Gujranwala for a recipient namely Mushtaq Ahmed residing at Bentong Pahang, Malaysia. ANF has sent its teams for apprehending the dispatcher.
ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Toyota Corolla car (M–4531) near Quid–e-Azam International Hospital, Golra Morr, GT Road, Rawalpindi and recovered 5 kilograms of Heroin from the car. Two drug smugglers namely Imdad Hussain hailing from Karachi and Atique–ur–Rehman hailing from Khyber Agency were taken into custody at the spot. As per reports, Heroin was being transported from Khyber Agency and was to be received by a local supplier in Rawalpindi City.
ANF Rawalpindi arrested a female drug peddler Sadia Bibi hailing from Rawalpindi and recovered 500 grams of Heroin from her possession. She was arrested in an operation carried out near Grave Yard No. 36, Pirwadhai, and Rawalpindi. According to initial reports, she is involved in supply of drugs at local level.
ANF Peshawar Road Check Team on search of a suspected Honda Civic car (LOV-0206) near main Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar, recovered 24 kilograms of Charas concealed in it. Charas was tactfully concealed in oil tank and cavities in front doors of the car. A drug smuggler Muhammad Usman hailing from Peshawar was apprehended at the spot.
According to initial investigations, the accused was coming from Peshawar and was on his way to Rawalpindi for delivery of drugs to a local supplier. Cases have been registered under CNS Act 1997 and further investigations are under progress.
