Karachi: 3 human traffickers among 7 arrested
KARACHI: In a statement issued by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Sunday, several raids conducted by its Anti–Human Trafficking Circle (AHTC) over a period of 10 days resulted in the arrest of three human traffickers, two agents of the passport office and two court absconders.
According to FIA Sindh Director Shahid Hayat Khan the AHTC arrested Sohail Akhter said to have been involved in smuggling people to South Korea.
He was involved in arranging South Korean visas for Rs800,000 on the pretext of employment opportunities; 18 passports besides other documentary evidence were also seized from his possession.
He further added that during interrogation Akhter disclosed the name of his accomplice, Syed Hussain, who was subsequently arrested with another accomplice, Syed Mohammed Ahmed, in a raid conducted in Paposh.
An FIR against the accused was registered whereas further investigation is underway.
