500 suspects arrested in Hazara
MANSEHRA: The Hazara Police arrested around 500 suspects during the ongoing search operation in the wake of the Peshawar school carnage, a senior police official said on Sunday.
“We have arrested around 500 suspects during the search across Hazara division following the terrorists attack on the Army Public School and College in Peshawar,” Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Hazara Range, Akhtar Hayat Gandapur, said while speaking to media here.
The DIG said the arrested persons also included the members of banned militant outfits. He said arms and ammunition were also seized in the action. “We have arrested 56 terrorists during the search operation and recovered arms and ammunition,” Gandapur said.
He said those arrested also included 150 unregistered Afghan refugees and 130 outlaws. He said 110 property owners and hoteliers were also among the arrested persons as they had rented out houses and rooms to the people without informing the police.
Meanwhile, the Battagram Police arrested 85 suspects, including Afghans, living illegally in the district.
