Rawalpindi: Chinese held at airport with liquor, pork
RAWALPINDI: The personnel of Pakistan Customs have arrested a foreigner at Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport for possessing liquor and pork, sources informed The Nation on Wednesday.
The arrested foreign lady was identified as Zhang Yuchun (bearing passport number G32383625) of China.
She was having 335 bottles of liquor and 1,375-kg pork. She was arrested soon after she arrived through flight number PK-1856 (Rayyan Air) from Kashgir at 3:15pm, sources added.
According to sources, the liquor and pork were being smuggled into the country. Acting on information, a team of Pakistan Customs, headed by Deputy Collector Naved-ur-Rehman, conducted raid and arrested the lady, besides recovering the liquor and pork from her possession.
Talking to The Nation, DC Pakistan Customs at BBIIAP Naved confirmed the development, saying he had prior information that a foreign lady would try to smuggle huge quantity of liquor and pork in Islamabad.
He said that acting on the tip off, he along with his team conducted raid and Chinese woman was arrested.
A first information report (FIR) was also lodged against the foreign lady, he said.
Another Custom officer, seeking anonymity, said that a committee had also been constituted to discard the pork.
