According to Anti-Extremism Cell (AEC) SP Ali Raza, the unit received information regarding the presence of eight suspects, believed to be affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), in Ittehad Town.
He said a police party of the AEC raided the hideout of terrorists and arrested them without any loss of life or injuries to any police personnel.
He said around 50 kilogrammes of explosives, three .222 rifles, 10 hand-made cracker bombs, eight pistols, two motorcycles and a large cache of mixed ammunition was also recovered from the suspects.
SP Ali Raza said the suspects had just arrived from South Waziristan and were planning a major terrorist attack in the city.
